Change the Batteries

Your motion detector will alert you via your touchscreen panel when the batteries are low and need to be replaced. Motion detectors take CR123A batteries. To replace low batteries, follow these steps:

First Gen Motion Detector
Most customers currently have the first gen motion detector. You can tell that your motion detector is a first gen if it has a screw on the bottom to secure the back plate. If you have a next gen motion detector without a screw, scroll down to the section for that detector. If you have a first gen motion detector, follow the steps below:

1Go to your touchscreen panel and put your system in test mode. If you have a Go!Control panel, click here to learn how to put your system into test mode. This will prevent any false alarms or tamper alerts while you are changing the battery
2Go to your motion detector and use a screw driver to remove it from its bracket
3Take out the old battery and replace with 1 CR123A battery
4Replace the cover and remount your sensor in its bracket
5Safely dispose of the old batteries
6Be sure to exit Test Mode on your touchscreen panel when you’re finished
Next Gen Motion Detector
You may have a next gen motion detector if your motion detector was recently installed and does not have a screw on the bottom to secure the back plate. If you have a next gen motion detector, follow the steps below:

1Go to your touchscreen panel and put your system in Test Mode. This will prevent any false alarms or tamper alerts while you are changing the batteries
2Go to your motion detector and grip it with your thumbs on the front and your fingers wrapped around the back. Push upward with your thumbs to slide the detector off of its back plate
3Use the black tab to remove the batteries and replace with two new CR123A batteries
4Slide the sensor back onto its back plate and make sure it snaps into place with no gaps
5Safely dispose of the old batteries
6Be sure to exit Test Mode on your touchscreen panel when you’re finished
