Change the Batteries

Your sensor will alert you via your touchscreen panel when your batteries are low and are in need of changing. Door/window sensors take two CR2032 batteries. The life of your batteries can varies based on use, however, generally you should expect them to last between six and eight months. Please note, extreme temperatures could cause your batteries to deplete faster than normal.

To replace the batteries in your Vivint Door & Window sensor, follow these steps:

First Gen Door/Window Sensor
Most customers currently have first gen door sensors. You can tell if your sensor is a first gen if it has a push tab on the side to remove the cover. If you have a first gen door sensor, follow the steps below:

1Go to your touchscreen panel and put your system in test mode. If you have a Go!Control panel, click here to learn how to put your system into test mode. This will prevent any false alarms or tamper alerts while you are changing the battery
2Go to your door/window sensor
3Open the sensor
4Take out the old battery and replace with two CR2032 batteries. Be sure to replace the new batteries with the positive side facing up. These batteries can be found at most stores where batteries are sold, or they can be purchased online
5Replace the sensor’s cover
6Safely dispose of the old batteries
7Be sure to exit Test Mode on your touchscreen panel when you’re finished
Next Gen Door/Window Sensor
You may have a next gen door sensor if your sensor was recently installed and has a groove on the front. If you have a next gen door sensor, follow the steps below:

1Go to your touchscreen panel and put your system in Test Mode. This will prevent any false alarms or tamper alerts while you are changing the batteries
2Go to your door/window sensor
3Using a penny or dime, twist the coin in the slot to pop open the sensor
4Take out the old battery and replace with a CR2032 battery
5Put the cover of the sensor back on and make sure that it snaps shut with out any gaps
6Safely dispose of the old batteries
7Be sure to exit Test Mode on your touchscreen panel when you’re finished
