Adjust Video Motion Detection Settings
Your Outdoor Camera can detect motion and start recording when motion is detected. To edit the motion detection preferences for your outdoor camera, follow these steps:
1From the home screen of your SkyControl™ display, tap the camera icon
2Swipe left or right to select the outdoor camera thumbnail
3Tap the gear icon from the bottom left corner
4Enter your 4-digit PIN
5Tap Video Detection
6Move the motion detection window to the location where the camera will detect the motion you wish to capture.
- Smaller and narrower windows will produce more predictable results.
- Create multiple windows as needed.
7To further fine tune motion detection, start by adjusting the Object Size.
- Object size is relative to the motion window. Meaning, a small object is small in a larger motion window and a small object will appear larger in a smaller motion window.
8The sensitivity setting is best left at 85% for optimal results in most situations.
Motion Window Size: A smaller window size is recommended because the camera scans the motion window constantly. In a larger window, there is a chance you might not capture motion immediately because the camera has recently scanned that area of the window and has not finished scanning the other areas of the motion window. Object Size: The object size directly translates to the number of pixels that need to change in order for the camera to detect motion. The object size is directly related to the entire image. However, it is relative to the motion window's size. A small object will appear bigger in a smaller motion window. Sensitivity: Sensitivity breaks down to the brightness of the pixels changing. If the background is washed with brightness, the sensitivity would need to be adjusted to be higher.
