Gaming Optimization

If you are experiencing intermittent connectivity with an online gaming console - e.g. PlayStation 3 (PS3), PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, etc. - try these advanced settings to improve your online gaming experience.

Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa. It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world. This security layer can cause online gaming to drop internet connectivity for unexpected periods of time. The following steps will help you change the NAT settings of your router.

Enable Universal Plug-and-Play
1Log into the configuration interface
2Go to the Advanced tab
3Go to the Administration tab
4Select Management on the left side of the screen
5 Choose Enabled for UPnP
Enable Port Forwarding
1Log into the configuration interface
2Go to the Advanced tab
3Go to the Application & Gaming tab
4Select Port Range forwarding on the left side of the screen
5Fill out the table to match the settings recommended by the gaming console and game manufacturer. Note these settings will vary by gaming console, and may vary by the game you are playing
