Panel Not Connected to WiFi

*Camera(s) offline is a different problem, and you should follow the steps here. This article only helps reconnect a panel to your household internet via WiFi.

First, to address your concerns of safety, your system is still working and your home is secure. However, if your panel is not connected to Wireless Internet (WiFi), you won’t be able to view live video from the mobile app or receive any new panel firmware updates, so let’s get this fixed. If your panel has disconnected from your home WiFi, follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.

1 Check your home WiFi
  • Make sure your home router is plugged in and has power.
  • Check your home WiFi connection on a mobile phone or tablet to make sure that it is working.
  • Reboot your router by unplugging it for 15 seconds and then plugging it back in.
2 Check for panel WiFi connection
  • Go to your panel and check the WiFi icon in the top right corner of the home screen.
  • If there is a slash through it, follow the steps below to connect your panel to WiFi.
  • If there isn't a slash through it, skip to Step 6: Reboot the panel network module.
3 Reboot your panel
  • Follow the steps to reboot your panel found here.
4 Connect your panel to WiFi
  • From the home screen, tap the WiFi icon in the upper right.
  • Enter your 4-Digit PIN.
  • Tap the arrow on the first box and select your home WiFi.
  • Enter your WiFi password.
  • If you are unable to get your panel to connect, skip to Step 6: Reboot the panel network module.
5 Connect your panel to WiFi via the Mobile App
  • Open the Vivint Smart Home App.
  • Press the Menu icon.
  • Press Device Settings.
  • Press Panel.
  • Press WiFi.
  • Choose your WiFi network name.
  • Enter your WiFi password.
  • When your panel finishes connecting, you will see a check mark next to your network name.
6 Reboot the panel network module
  • Tap the WiFi icon on the home screen.
  • Enter your 4-Digit PIN.
  • Tap Reboot network module, then confirm by tapping Yes.
  • Wait a few minutes for the reboot to complete.
  • Go back and complete Step 4: Connect your panel to WiFi.
