Loss of Supervision

If your touchscreen panel is giving a Loss of Supervision alert for your smoke detector, this means it isn’t able to communicate with the device. To make sure your smoke detector is communicating, check the following:

1Click here for steps on how to test your smoke detector.

If the test fails to communicate with your panel, and the detector has had a history of low battery life, the batteries are probably dead and need to be replaced. Click here for steps on how to change the batteries.
2If the batteries have already been changed, or are less than a month old, check the distance between the detector and your panel. The smoke detector has a range of 200 feet over open air. Any walls, shelves, etc. will reduce the signal range. If distance or structural interference is preventing communication, you may need to move it closer to the panel or have additional equipment installed.

If your detector has fresh batteries, is in range, but still isn’t connecting to the panel, chat with one of our Smart Home Professionals for assistance.
